2/19/2020 Update - Events and Training Ground
In our second update to the Early Access version of War for Athelay, we have a brand new feature and a replacement for an old feature.
The first feature we’d like to discuss are events, a brand new system that we hope will add more variety to runs in the game. Periodically when leaving a city or arena your team may encounter certain situations that require you to make a choice. Some of these scenarios will have clearly defined outcomes that you can pick from, but some may be harder to predict, so you’ll need to weigh the risk and rewards of your options. Who knows? Maybe you’ll get lucky and get something rare… or maybe you’ll suffer a setback when your choice goes awry? While there’s only a few events right now, we’ll be adding more events in future, so we hope you’ll look forward to them!
From our testing, we felt that the quest system didn’t end up working out the way we had envisioned. There were a few different quests, but typically only one was being chosen. Still, we didn’t want to get rid of the premise entirely as one of the original purposes for quests was to allow units who don’t go into an arena an option that would prevent them from falling behind too far. So, as a compromise we ended up changing the quest location of cities to the training ground. Send your units there to gain some levels instead of being available in the next few arenas. Some of the quests we had created or planned are now going to be events. Hopefully with this you get the best of both worlds!
